Merry Christmas…

Like the malls and the liquor stores Sparkplug is closing down early today so that we can enjoy the best of the season.

Christmas Day is one of the few times in the year when we can be truly thankful.

And what do we have to be thankful for this year?

Well, the madness in the malls is over for one day until it resumes on Boxing Day.  The Presidential hopefuls have all gone home for the holidays so we are spared their rhetoric for the next week or so.  Brian Mulroney is snuggled in his bed with care, waiting for another shoe to drop.  Stephen Harper is wondering why the poll numbers are so low.  Stephane Dion is trying to channel the spirit and spine of Pierre Trudeau.

The multiplexs are filled with some excellent treats – Charlie Wilson’s War, I Am Legend, Walk Hard, Sweeney Todd, No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood and opening just in time on Christmas Day, Aliens Vs. Predator 2 (I can’t imagine a finer way to spend Christmas Day).

So enjoy the day, eat too much and make merry, Christmas alas, comes but once a year.
