Happy New Year – we’re one year old!

Happy New Years from the S.S. PoseidonNew Year’s day marks our first birthday.

Like any self respecting one year old we’ve spent our first year exploring the new world around us.  Taking our first tentative steps, filling our diapers periodically and spitting up once and a while.

We’ve laughed a bit and shed a few tears as well.

We made some new friends, reconnected with friends and even lost a few faithful readers.  Just the other day I was saddened to learn that Wesley Cox, Canadian broadcasting legend and frequent Sparkplug commenter passed away.  Wes, you will be missed.

As I wrote in February Mike Magee, one of my oldest friends, also passed on this year.  I like to think that Mike is still chuckling at my latest postings somewhere out there in the great beyond.

As I look forward to the year ahead – the final one for the Bush crime cartel (thank Dog) – I am excited about some changes we are introducing here at Sparkplug.  First of all, check the sidebar to the right.  At the bottom I have included a very special countdown.

In the next few weeks we will be introducing our new Culture Vulture feature which will appear periodically and feature guest posters commenting on some aspect of popular culture – movie, books, movies and television.  I am in the process of lining up some lively commenters to help out with this new feature and I know you will enjoy it – at the very least it will give you a break from me once in a while.

So there you are Sparkplug is about to enter its terrible twos and hopefully it will continue to be an exciting ride.

Oh, and a very Happy New Year to you all.
