You may have noticed that I haven’t been keeping the blog up to date lately. Thanks to Ted Rushton for helping to fill the gaps.
I have decided to re-up the site and take it in a new direction.
First, a little background. I have worked as a professional writer and corporate communicator for the past couple of decades. During that time I have written everything from magazine articles to product brochures.
After writing two published non-fiction books in the past five years, last year I decided to try my hand at fiction. The result is two novels in a mystery series set in a small Michigan tourist town. The people who have read them like them and I really enjoyed writing them.
But as every profession writer will tell you, writing a good novel is only a small part of the battle. You actually have to get out there and sell what you have written and that’s a tough job especially with the publishing industry in flux.
While the act of writing is a singular pursuit, I thought it might be fun to take you through the ups and downs of the writing profession.
This will truly be an act of collaboration and I am hoping that fellow aspiring, and professional, writers will contribute to this blog.
It should be a fun trip…
Up next, a few tools every writer should know about.
