Last night Nik Wallenda walked a tightrope across Niagara Falls in a stunt that hadn’t been done since the early 1960s when Gilbert Roland attempted it in the exciting climax of Irwin Allen’s The Big Circus.
Of course, that was a movie and last night was real.
You may recall I started a successful campaign a few years ago to get Warner Brothers to open their vaults and release The Big Circus, which they finally did as one of the first DVDs in the Warner Archives series.
Many of you have written me because Warners does not sell the disk outside of the U.S. marketplace.
Well there’s good news if you happen to receive Turner Classic Movies on your cable system. The Big Circus is being broadcast on June 24th at 9:30 PM (ET). As with all movies on TCM it will be shown in full widescreen and uninterrupted by commercials.
So have your PVR set and ready to record.
